The magic of Orlando is no secret; in fact, this central Florida state attracts around 60 million visitors every year. The warm climate is a major draw and so are the world-famous theme parks, the shopping malls, the golf courses and the nightlife. You can’t go wrong for beaches either, with some of America’s finest within easy reach. Whether you want a fun-filled family adventure, or a relaxing break in the sun, our Orlando vacation homes are an ideal base for your trip, offering better value than a hotel, with more space, luxury and privacy.
Known as the ‘Theme Park Capital of the World’, Orlando lives up to its name with innumerable theme parks, water parks and attractions. You’ll find favorites like Disney World and Universal Studios, popular with both the young and the young at heart. As well as Legoland, Seaworld, Aquatica and Gatorland - the list could go on forever. The majority of our Orlando vacation homes are located in the vicinity of Kissimmee, just minutes from Disney World. It's just a short drive from Kissimmee to all the other Orlando attractions, too.
This area should be on everyone’s list of things to do in Orlando. Located several miles southwest of Downtown, International Drive (or I-Drive as it’s known locally) is Orlando’s main tourist strip. Stretching for more than 10 miles, I-Drive is home to the Orange County Convention Center, the Pointe Orlando entertainment complex and Seaworld. The Orlando Eye ferris wheel is also located here, as well as the I-Drive 360 complex, Restaurant Row, bars, outlet malls and the major theme park resort Universal Studios.
If golf is your thing, there are endless must-play golf courses in Orlando. Reunion Resort has 3 courses designed by golf legends Tom Watson, Arnold Palmer and Jack Nicklaus (open to resort guests only). Instruction is available there too. There are 2 top Greg Norman courses at ChampionsGate, with tuition at the onsite David Leadbetter Golf Academy. Plus there are a whole host of other championship golf courses in Orlando. Many of our Orlando vacation rentals are located in Reunion Resort and Championsgate, as well as in other resorts with golf courses either on the premises or nearby.
If you head away from the theme parks you’ll get a chance to discover the ‘other’ side of Orlando, the one that the locals know and love. There’s Downtown Orlando, the region’s main city, with its iconic skyscrapers and lovely parks and gardens. Downtown also boasts great restaurants and nightlife, as well as museums, theaters and concert venues. The arts-and-culture-filled city of Winter Gardens is another area that the locals love, with its multitude of parks, museums, shopping malls, bars and restaurants.
If it’s retail therapy you’re in search of there are ample opportunities for shopping in Orlando, with malls and shopping districts around every corner. In fact there are more shopping malls in Orlando than in any other city in the state. Topping the list is the Florida Mall where you’ll find more than 250 stores and restaurants. The Mall at Millenia is a great shopping destination too with its impressive architecture and its dazzling selection of exclusive stores. If it’s a bargain you’re after, you can buy designer brands at low prices in the Premium Outlets – one is located in Vineland and the other along International Drive. Our Orlando vacation home rentals are located within easy reach of the shopping malls.
If you enjoy getting out and about on vacation, other Orlando highlights include the Weeki Wachee Springs, a stunning natural spring with a water park and regular ‘mermaid’ swimming shows. You’ll also love Blue Spring Park where you can pet wild Florida manatees or go swimming, boating and fishing. Further afield is the Everglades National Park, a few hours’ drive south of Orlando, where you can spot alligators on an airboat tour. Prefer rockets and astronauts? Then don’t miss a day trip to the Kennedy Space Center where you can see a space shuttle up close.
If beaches are high on your wishlist it’s an easy drive from our Orlando vacation homes to Florida’s fabulous east and west coast beaches. A favorite with tourists and Orlandoans alike is Cocoa Beach, around an hour’s drive east of the city. Daytona Beach is along the east coast too, offering plenty of attractions including an entertainment plaza and the nearby Daytona International Speedway. They may be a longer drive than the east coast beaches, but Clearwater and St. Petersburg are well worth making the effort for. Rated among the best beaches in Florida, these Gulf Coast beauties boast miles of powdery sands and an abundance of family attractions.
