Popular Vacation Rentals
The best time to visit Sonoma Resort is March to May and September to November, when Orlando enjoys warm, pleasant weather, fewer crowds, and better value on accommodation. These shoulder seasons are ideal for enjoying the theme parks, resort amenities, and outdoor dining without the peak-season heat or long wait times.
Summer (June to August) is popular with families thanks to school holidays, though it’s hotter and busier, while winter offers milder temperatures and festive events but higher demand around holidays.
Sonoma Resort is located very close to Disney World. The closest park is Hollywood Studios, which is approximately a 20 minute drive away. The parks are no further than a 23 minute drive away, so you can rest assured getting there in the morning is quick and fuss-free.
Currently, Sonoma Resort doesn’t run its own shuttle service to Disney World. However, it is still very easy to get around Orlando, as there are plenty of taxi firms and transfer options available throughout the city.
If you would prefer total flexibility and freedom, we recommend hiring a car for your vacation. This ensures you can stick to your own timetable, which is especially useful if you have a family with little ones in tow - no need to rush out so you don’t miss the bus, when your child can’t find their other sock! Leave your vacation rental on your own time, and cruise to the Disney parks at your own pace.
The popular Universal Studios theme park is located deep in the city of Orlando. The drive there from Sonoma Resort takes just under 30 minutes in good traffic, covering a distance of 16 miles.
Sonoma Resort is one of the closest Orlando resorts to the airport, meaning you can ensure a swift journey between the two - particularly appreciated by your family after a long flight to Florida!
There are two main routes between the two, with one being ever so slightly faster:

Reaching Sonoma Resort via FL-417 is our recommended route, as it takes only 24 minutes and covers 17.2 miles (though please note that this is a toll road.)

Alternatively, head north first, before circling back round and heading south towards the resort, along Jeff Fuqua Blvd. It takes 26 minutes in good traffic and covers the same distance. We recommend this route if there is traffic in the main route, or if you want to go past Publix to pick up any last minute bits and pieces for your vacation.
