The resort is reached via Bourg-Saint-Maurice, the main valley town below Les Arcs, with mountain roads leading up to the different villages, including Arc 1600, Arc 1800, Arc 1950, and Arc 2000.
Roads in France are driven on the right-hand side, and winter visitors should be prepared for alpine conditions, including snow, ice, sharp bends, and steep climbs.
During the ski season, it’s important to check road conditions before travelling and carry suitable winter equipment, such as snow chains or winter tyres where required. Many Les Arcs chalets offer private parking or nearby public parking, but spaces can be limited in busy weeks, so it’s worth planning ahead. Once you arrive, Les Arcs is easy to enjoy without driving every day, with ski lifts, resort shuttles, pedestrian-friendly areas, restaurants, shops, and après-ski spots close to many chalet locations.

Official Les Arcs guidance says visitors can travel by train to Bourg-Saint-Maurice from Paris in around 5 hours and from Lyon in around 3 hours.
From Bourg-Saint-Maurice station, the Les Arcs funicular takes you up to Arc 1600 in just 7 minutes, with free inter-station shuttles then connecting to Arc 1800, Arc 1950 and Arc 2000.
