Where’s Koh Samui?

Koh Samui is a large island in Thailand. It is found in the Gulf of Thailand off the coast of Surat Thani. 

When is the best time to visit Koh Samui?

Thailand experiences a rainy season that typically takes place between July and October. Therefore we highly recommend visiting over winter, and in the early spring for the best chance of making the most of the beaches. How to get from Bangkok to Koh Samui?

Bangkok and Koh Samui are located quite far apart from each other. We recommend catching a flight between the two, which takes around an hour and fifteen minutes. You can also take a ferry, which takes in the region of 14 hours. 

How to get from Phuket to Koh Samui?

Phuket is located on mainland Thailand, on the west coast, whereas Koh Samui is an island located just off the east coast. It is possible to catch a flight between the two, which is our recommended method of transportation and takes just under an hour. You can also take a ferry from Phuket that will take around 7 hours.

Where are the best beaches in Koh Samui?

No matter where you look in Koh Samui, you will find an endless array of stunning beaches, each more beautiful than the last. Some of the most popular, however, include Chaweng Beach, Choengmon Beach and Thongson Beach, all close to the main airport. Further across the island, Nathon Beach, and Lipa Noi Beach are also popular spots for some sun, sea and sand. 

What are the best islands to visit near Koh Samui?

Koh Samui is a fantastic destination if you’re looking to enjoy some island-hopping in Thailand. Nearby islands that are popular for day trips and stop overs include the large Ko Pha Ngan, Tean Island, and Ang Thong. There are also a peppering of smaller islands in the nearby area such as Ko Mat Sum and Ko Mat Lang. 

How to get around Koh Samui?

The best and easiest way to get around Koh Samui whilst enjoying the maximum of flexibility and convenience is to hire your own vehicle for the duration of your stay.
