Asia is absolutely enormous, covering many time zones and climates, and even crossing the equator. That means that there is no one best time to visit Asia as a whole - instead it depends on where you're going and what you want to do.

Southeast Asia, which includes countries like Thailand, Singapore, and Indonesia, is hot and humid for much of the year, with distinct wet and dry seasons. If you're wanting a beach break, then the dry season, which is also a bit cooler, is from November through April. The wet season is from May through October, and is hot, humid, and prone to afternoon thunderstorms. It is also the greenest season, so if you're heading to the region for wildlife watching, then this might be the best time to go.

Further north brings more a distinctive four seasons pattern that is seen in places such as Europe and the USA. Snowfall is common in regions such as northern Japan and northern China, while spring and fall bring the beautiful colors of cherry blossoms and fiery leaves. Summers can by cloyingly hot, particularly in large cities.

Being the largest and most populous continent in the world, it's little wonder that Asian cuisine is varied and vast, with a smörgåsbord of flavors and textures totally unique to individual countries. Regionally, there are certain similarities, with southeastern countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, and Singapore frequently using ingredients like shrimp paste, chilis, and rice in dishes, whereas in south Asian countries such as India and Bangladesh, curries, flatbreads, and biriyanis are commonly seen on menus. There are so many iconic Asian dishes, from Thai green and red curries to Japanese ramen and sushi, wherever you're headed, you'll find something to tickle your tastebuds.
