Puglia Villas
Puglia, or Apulia, is a region in Italy that makes up the “heel” of the country’s iconic boot-shape. Encompassing a huge variety of towns you can stroll through, including the famous port town of Bari, there is no end of monuments to explore and scenic spots where you can soak-up the sprawling ocean views and carefree atmosphere of Italy’s south - not to mention a vast array of quaint pizzerias and artisan ice cream parlors, where you can sample all of the culinary delights of this incredible country.
Take advantage of a vacation in this sun-soaked region of Italy with a stay in one of our beautiful vacation villas, complete with landscaped gardens and grounds, alfresco dining areas, and dreamy private pools where you can truly relax and take it all in. Our villas range in style from sprawling manors close to the shore, to quaint, rustic gems nestled deep in the countryside, where you can enjoy an authentic Puglian experience. Whatever you decide, these stunning homes are certain to ensure you return home with a full and content heart.
Puglia is a large region of Italy located to the south of the country. If Italy were described as a boot, Puglia would begin at the ankle and encompass the entirety of the heel. With that being said, Puglia is famed for its miles upon miles of beautiful shoreline and its port cities, with stunning hilltop destinations found further inland.
Yes; in fact, Bari is the capital of the Puglia region. Bari is a stunning ancient city that is dripping with charm and culture. From the winding streets of the old town where you could easily lose yourself for an entire day, to the atmospheric harbors, and the Basilica di San Nicola, which dates all the way back to the 11th century, Bari is a fantastic destination if you want to enjoy a true authentic Italian experience.
Some of our best properties are located in the heel of Italy’s boot. South of Bari, you will find true, authentic Italian villas both near the coast and amongst the lush countryside of the region. Combining the best of tranquil seaside getaways, peaceful, rural destinations, with quaint cities and towns within easy access, it’s a great idea to stay near Bari, Taranto, or Brindisi.
If you are hoping to go to Puglia for your next vacation but are concerned about how to get there, then you are in luck. Puglia in fact has its own airports, with three available to international airports located across the region, with two main international airports. The main airport is Bari International (BRI), located close to the region’s capital city of Bari. Following BRI is Salento Airport (BDS) , which is located further South than Bari.
As Rome in the region of Lazio, and the region of Puglia share the same landmass, it is possible to drive between the two. If you are hitting the road in your own vehicle, the journey between Puglia’s capital and Rome takes just over four and a half hours. It is also possible to catch a bus between the two cities, with a high-speed train available between them, which takes around four hours. It is also possible to catch a flight between Rome and Bari if you want to get there as quickly as possible, with a journey time of an hour.
Crime in Italy is generally very low. There may be some incidences of petty crime, such as pick-pocketing, happening in the busier cities of Puglia. The best thing you can do is stay aware of your surroundings and keep alert to your belongings, to deter any potential pick-pocketers. Otherwise, most vacations to Puglia run completely smoothly, and you can expect an enjoyable experience exploring one of the most beautiful regions in Italy.
