Popular Dubrovnik Villas

Dubrovnik is located in southern Croatia, along the stunning Adriatic coast, close to the borders of Montenegro and Bosnia and Herzegovina.
Popular beaches include Banje Beach near the Old Town, Lapad Beach for a more relaxed atmosphere, and Sveti Jakov Beach for beautiful views and fewer crowds.
Croatia uses the Euro (€), making it easy for travellers from across Europe.
Dubrovnik is famous for its medieval Old Town, impressive city walls, crystal-clear waters, and as a filming location for Game of Thrones.
Absolutely. The Old Town is pedestrian-only, and taxis, boats, and local buses make it easy to get around without hiring a car.

Best time to visit Dubrovnik
When it comes to Dubrovnik, visitors can expect a classic Mediterranean climate, with long, sun-soaked summers and mild winters. During the peak summer months, temperatures can climb, bringing plenty of sunshine and warm seas that are ideal for swimming and island-hopping. However, late autumn and winter tend to be wetter, with higher rainfall and cooler evenings, while the height of summer can also feel busy and humid.
We recommend visiting Dubrovnik between May and September to enjoy the best weather overall. June through early September offers the warmest sea temperatures and the most reliable sunshine, making it perfect for beach days and boat trips, while May and September are excellent shoulder-season months, combining pleasant temperatures with fewer crowds and a more relaxed atmosphere.

Eat out at the best restaurants in Dubrovnik
If you’re searching for the best Dubrovnik restaurants, your first port of call should be the Old Town, where historic streets are lined with an impressive mix of traditional taverns and refined dining spots. Here, centuries-old buildings set the scene for authentic Dalmatian cuisine alongside modern Mediterranean and international flavors, all often enjoyed with views of the city walls or the Adriatic Sea.
Our favorite picks in and around the Old Town include the elegant Restaurant 360, known for its fine dining and Michelin-starred pedigree, the ever-popular Nautika, which pairs exceptional seafood with breathtaking sea views, and Proto, a long-standing favorite for classic Dubrovnik dishes prepared with fresh local ingredients.
Just outside the Old Town, in areas such as Lapad Bay and Ploče, you’ll find a more relaxed dining atmosphere alongside some standout restaurants. Lapad offers beachfront eateries and sunset dining, while Ploče is home to stylish spots with panoramic views over the Old Town. Highlights include Panorama Restaurant atop Mount Srđ for unforgettable vistas, Azur for creative Mediterranean-Asian fusion, and Dubravka 1836, perfectly placed for casual dining with a view of the city walls.
Dubrovnik is well connected by air, especially during the warmer months, making it an easy destination to reach from both the UK and the US, as well as across Europe. From the UK, direct flights operate from major airports including London (Heathrow, Gatwick, and Luton), Manchester, Birmingham, Bristol, and Edinburgh, with the widest choice of routes available between April and October.
From the United States, Dubrovnik is typically reached via one connection, most commonly through European hubs such as London, Frankfurt, Paris, Amsterdam, or Vienna. In peak summer season, limited direct flights from select US cities (such as New York) may also be available, making travel even more convenient.
Beyond the UK and US, Dubrovnik is served by direct flights from numerous European cities, including Rome, Milan, Paris, Berlin, Munich, Zurich, Madrid, and Stockholm, along with strong regional connections from Zagreb and other Balkan capitals.
Dubrovnik Airport (DBV) is the main international airport and is located approximately 20 kilometers from the Old Town. From the airport, visitors can reach the city by shuttle bus, taxi, or private transfer, with typical journey times of around 30 minutes, depending on traffic.
Driving in Dubrovnik is relatively straightforward, as long as you’re aware of a few local rules and conditions. To rent a car in Croatia, drivers must generally be at least 21 years old and hold a valid driver’s license, which you’ll need to present when collecting your vehicle. Some rental companies may also require you to have held your license for a minimum period.
In Croatia, you drive on the right-hand side of the road, and speed limits are clearly signposted in urban areas, on open roads, and on highways. Roads around Dubrovnik are well maintained, though they can be narrow and winding, particularly along the coast and in rural areas, so extra care is advised.
GPS navigation works well throughout the region, and most rental cars either include built-in navigation or allow easy use of smartphone mapping apps. It’s also worth noting that traffic and parking can be challenging near the Old Town, especially during peak summer months, so planning your routes and parking in advance will make driving in Dubrovnik far more enjoyable.
Getting to Dubrovnik by sea is not only possible, but also a popular and scenic option. The city is a major cruise ship port, with many Mediterranean and Adriatic cruises stopping here throughout the year, particularly between April and October.
In addition to cruises, Dubrovnik is well connected by ferry and catamaran services. Regular ferries operate between Dubrovnik and other Croatian destinations such as Split, Hvar, Korčula, and Mljet, as well as nearby islands along the Dalmatian Coast. There are also international ferry routes, including seasonal services from Italy, most commonly from ports such as Bari.
For travelers exploring the region, arriving by sea offers a stunning first view of Dubrovnik’s iconic city walls and coastline. Ferries and catamarans typically arrive at Gruž Port, located a short drive from the Old Town, with easy onward connections by taxi or local bus.
The best way to get from the airport to your villa in Dubrovnik is by car, although there are several convenient ways of getting around the city and surrounding areas.
Your flight will arrive at Dubrovnik Airport (DBV), located around 20 kilometers from the Old Town. From here, you can collect a pre-booked hire car, take a taxi, arrange a private transfer, or use public transport. While buses are available, they’re not always ideal if you’re travelling with lots of luggage or arriving late in the evening.
By car
If you choose to hire a car, it’s usually best to book online in advance for the widest choice and best rates. Several car rental companies operate directly from Dubrovnik Airport, allowing you to collect your vehicle on arrival and drop it off before departure. Some providers will also arrange for the car to be delivered to and collected from your Dubrovnik villa.
To hire a car in Croatia, you’ll need a valid driving licence, and most drivers must be 21 years or older (with some companies requiring at least one year of driving experience). In Croatia, cars drive on the right, speed limits are clearly signposted, and seat belts are compulsory. Roads are generally in good condition, but can be narrow and winding, particularly along the coast, and traffic around Dubrovnik can be heavy during peak summer months.
By taxi
Taxis are a straightforward and stress-free way to travel from the airport. Official taxis are readily available outside the arrivals terminal, and the journey to the Old Town or surrounding villa areas typically takes around 30 minutes, depending on traffic. Fares are higher than public transport, but pricing is usually clear and agreed in advance or metered.
By private transfer
Private door-to-door transfers can be arranged in advance and are a popular option for visitors staying in villas. Transfers offer a fixed price, meet-and-greet service at the airport, and a comfortable, direct journey to your accommodation. Vehicle options often include standard cars, minivans for larger groups, and luxury vehicles, making this an excellent choice after a long flight.
By bus
Public buses run regularly between Dubrovnik Airport and the city, offering a budget-friendly option if you’re travelling light. The airport shuttle bus connects to the main bus station and the Old Town area, with tickets purchased on board or in advance. While buses are reliable and inexpensive, they may involve a short walk at the end of your journey, which can be less convenient with heavy luggage.

Located just outside Dubrovnik’s Old Town, Banje Beach is the city’s most famous and easily accessible beach, offering unbeatable views of the medieval city walls and Lokrum Island. The beach is a mix of fine pebbles and sand, with sun loungers and umbrellas available to rent, as well as beach clubs and restaurants nearby. Its clear, calm waters are ideal for swimming, while the lively atmosphere makes it popular with both visitors and locals. Thanks to its central location, Banje Beach is perfect for those wanting to combine sightseeing with a relaxing beach day.
Situated in Lapad Bay, around 10 minutes from the Old Town, Lapad Beach is a long, wide pebble beach backed by a pedestrian promenade lined with cafés and restaurants. Easy to reach by car or bus, it’s a great choice for families, with gentle waters and plenty of space to spread out. Sun loungers and umbrellas are available, and nearby pine trees provide natural shade. As the name suggests, Lapad Beach is especially popular in the evening, when the sun sets over the bay and the promenade comes alive.
Tucked away to the southeast of the Old Town, Sveti Jakov Beach is a quieter and more secluded option, reached by a short walk down a set of stone steps. The beach is a mix of sand and pebbles, framed by lush greenery and offering stunning views back toward Dubrovnik’s Old Town and Lokrum Island. It’s ideal for couples and those seeking a more peaceful atmosphere, with calm, clear water that’s excellent for swimming. There are limited facilities here, which adds to its unspoiled and tranquil feel.
Located on the Babin Kuk peninsula, Copacabana Beach is a well-organised pebble beach with excellent facilities and easy access by car. The beach offers plenty of sun loungers, umbrellas, and a beachfront bar and restaurant, making it a comfortable spot for a full day by the sea. The water here is clean and shallow close to shore, making it suitable for swimming, while the wider bay is popular for paddleboarding, kayaking, and other water activities. Copacabana Beach is a good choice for families and groups looking for a lively but relaxed beach experience.
Hidden at the foot of the Lovrijenac Fortress, just outside the Old Town, Šulić Beach is a small, picturesque cove with a peaceful atmosphere. The beach is compact and mostly pebbled, with crystal-clear water that’s perfect for swimming and snorkeling. Its sheltered location makes the sea calm, while the dramatic stone walls above create a unique and scenic setting. There are limited facilities, but a nearby restaurant and the short walk from the Old Town make Šulić Beach a charming escape from the crowds.
