Guide to Hollywood Studios
Disney’s Hollywood Studios brings movies, television and some of Walt Disney World’s biggest franchises to life through thrill rides, immersive lands, live shows and character experiences. From stepping inside Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge to exploring Toy Story Land, there is plenty here for families, teenagers and adults.
The park is also home to several of Disney World’s biggest thrill attractions, including Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror and Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets, alongside gentler rides such as Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and Toy Story Mania.
This guide covers the best Hollywood Studios rides, family attractions, height restrictions, Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge, shows, restaurants, tickets, opening hours and useful tips for planning your day.
Rides and attractions
Hollywood Studios has a relatively compact collection of rides, but many are major attractions worth building your day around.
Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance
Rise of the Resistance is one of the park’s standout experiences, combining multiple ride systems, huge sets and familiar Star Wars characters. A fully-immersive experience, guests are placed in the middle of a battle between the Resistance and First Order!
Slinky Dog Dash
Located in Toy Story Land, Slinky Dog Dash is a family coaster with launches, sweeping turns and colorful Toy Story scenery. It provides plenty of excitement without the intensity of Hollywood Studios’ biggest thrill rides.
The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror
Tower of Terror combines a spooky abandoned-hotel setting with sudden drops inside the Hollywood Tower Hotel. The unpredictable movement makes every ride feel slightly different.
Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets
One of Hollywood Studios’ fastest attractions has entered a new era, with Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster now starring The Muppets and their house band, The Electric Mayhem. The indoor coaster combines a high-speed launch with inversions, for a fun-filled experience.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway
Head inside the Chinese Theatre for a colorful adventure starring Mickey, Minnie and friends. With no minimum height requirement, Runaway Railway is one of the easiest major Hollywood Studios rides for families to enjoy together.
Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run
Step aboard the Millennium Falcon and take a position as pilot, gunner or engineer during an interactive mission through the Star Wars universe.
Toy Story Mania!
Toy Story Mania! combines a gentle moving ride with interactive carnival-style games, letting guests compete for the highest score as they travel through Toy Story-inspired scenes.

Best rides for kids/families
Hollywood Studios has plenty for families who are not looking for the park’s biggest drops and fastest coasters.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and Toy Story Mania! are two of the strongest choices for younger children because both can be enjoyed at any height. Alien Swirling Saucers has a relatively low 32-inch requirement, while children who reach 38 inches can also experience Slinky Dog Dash and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
Toy Story Land is particularly easy to explore as a family, with rides, character encounters and colorful environments concentrated within one area. Shows elsewhere in the park also provide useful breaks from rides and the Florida heat.

Height restrictions
Hollywood Studios has more height-restricted attractions than some other Disney parks, so it is worth checking everyone’s height before deciding which rides to prioritize.
32 inches or taller: Alien Swirling Saucers.
38 inches or taller: Slinky Dog Dash and Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run.
40 inches or taller: Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, Star Tours – The Adventures Continue and The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror.
48 inches or taller: Rock ’n’ Roller Coaster Starring The Muppets.
Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway and Toy Story Mania! can be enjoyed at any height.
Disney can change attraction requirements, so check the latest information before visiting.
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge
Star Wars: Galaxy’s Edge is one of the biggest reasons to visit Hollywood Studios, creating an entire land based around the remote planet of Batuu.
Its headline attraction is Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance, while Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run puts guests inside one of cinema’s most recognizable spacecraft. Beyond the rides, the land is designed for exploring, with detailed streets, shops, food and roaming Star Wars characters.
Oga’s Cantina provides one of the land’s most immersive dining experiences, while Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo and Ronto Roasters offer quicker food options.
Star Wars fans can also explore experiences such as building a lightsaber at Savi’s Workshop or creating a customized droid at Droid Depot. These experiences can require separate reservations and additional payment, so plan ahead if they are a priority.

Shows and entertainment
Hollywood Studios has one of the strongest selections of live entertainment at Walt Disney World, making it easy to mix rides with seated shows throughout the day.
Beauty and the Beast – Live on Stage brings the classic story to the stage with music, costumes and familiar characters, while Disney Villains: Unfairly Ever After puts Cruella de Vil, Captain Hook and Maleficent in front of the Magic Mirror to argue their cases.
Other entertainment includes Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular!, For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration and Disney Jr. Mickey Mouse Clubhouse Live.
The park’s major nighttime show is Fantasmic!, an outdoor spectacular combining Disney characters, music, water effects, projections, pyrotechnics and live performances. The show lasts around 30 minutes, and arriving early is worthwhile if securing a good seat is important to you.

Restaurants and places to eat
Hollywood Studios has everything from immersive themed restaurants to quick-service meals that are easy to fit between rides.
For a memorable sit-down meal, Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater Restaurant recreates a 1950's drive-in cinema, while 50’s Prime Time Café uses retro decor and playful service to create another distinctly themed experience.
The Hollywood Brown Derby offers a more upscale option inspired by Hollywood’s Golden Age, while Roundup Rodeo BBQ takes diners into a colorful Toy Story-themed setting.
For something quicker, consider Docking Bay 7 Food and Cargo in Galaxy’s Edge, Woody’s Lunch Box in Toy Story Land or ABC Commissary. Hollywood & Vine is another option for families, offering character dining with Minnie and friends.
Reservations are strongly recommended for popular table-service restaurants, particularly if you have a specific dining experience in mind.
Tickets
A standard Walt Disney World theme park ticket can be used for admission to Hollywood Studios.
A 1 Park Per Day ticket works well if you want to spend your entire day here. Disney also offers Park Hopper options for guests who want to visit Hollywood Studios alongside another Walt Disney World theme park on the same day.
Disney ticket prices are date-based and can vary according to the length of your stay and ticket type, so it is better to check prices for your actual travel dates rather than relying on one fixed figure.

Opening hours
Hollywood Studios opening hours vary by date and season. Regular opening and closing times can change throughout the year. Hours, showtimes and attraction schedules can change, so check the Walt Disney World calendar or My Disney Experience app shortly before your visit.
Arriving before the main opening time can be particularly worthwhile if Rise of the Resistance, Slinky Dog Dash or another headline attraction is high on your list.

How long to spend
For most visitors, one full day is enough for Hollywood Studios, particularly if you decide which rides and shows matter most before arriving.
Start early, prioritize a few headline attractions and leave enough space between rides for Galaxy’s Edge, Toy Story Land, meals and at least one live show.
A second visit can be worthwhile for major Star Wars fans, families who want to see several stage shows, or visitors who prefer a slower pace. If you are planning several Disney days, our Guide to Magic Kingdom, Guide to EPCOT and Guide to Animal Kingdom can help you plan the rest of your trip!

Tips for visiting
Arrive early. The park’s biggest attractions can build substantial waits, so the first hour of the day is valuable.
Choose your priorities before you arrive. Hollywood Studios has fewer rides than some Disney parks, but several are extremely popular. Decide which two or three are must-dos.
Consider Lightning Lane. If you want to spend less time waiting for selected attractions, read our Disney World Lightning Lane guide before your visit.
Plan shows around your rides. Stage performances run at scheduled times, so check the day’s entertainment schedule early rather than discovering later that you have missed the final performance.
Explore Galaxy’s Edge rather than just riding the attractions. Give yourself time to walk around Batuu, browse the shops and take in the details rather than immediately moving to another part of the park.
Stay for Fantasmic. If you have the energy for a full park day, this nighttime spectacular is an excellent way to finish your visit. Arrive ahead of showtime if getting a good seat is important. Enjoy!
