The Portimão Sardine Festival is one of the Algarve’s most popular summer food events, bringing together grilled sardines, live music, local exhibitors, and festival-goers for a standout celebration of regional flavour. Typically held for 5 days each August, the festival takes place along Portimão’s riverside area. Showcasing traditional sardine dishes, which are cooked over open-air charcoal grills, visitors can savor the authentic regional cuisine at large dining areas, set up by local restaurants. There's also live entertainment, craft stalls, concerts and a lively atmosphere to soak up. Visitors can enjoy classic Algarve tastes, soak up the waterfront setting, and experience the rich heritage and easygoing atmosphere which makes this festival so popular.
