Where to go in Jamaica

Jaw-dropping beaches, sparkling seas and ramshackle rum bars fringe the Jamaican coast, serving up jerk chicken to relaxing reggae beats. Head inland and you’ll be seduced by hidden waterfalls, soaring mansions and age-old banana plantations, plus two exciting cities bubbling with life both night and day. Our Jamaica vacation rentals are the perfect home-from-home during Jamaica vacations, equipped with private swimming pools, expansive living spaces and spectacular views.

Montego Bay

On Jamaica's northwest coast is the vibrant town of Montego Bay (or Mo' Bay as the locals call it), a busy cruise ship port packed with shops, bars and beach resorts. This popular region is home to well-known beaches like Doctor’s Cave and Walter Fletcher Beach, as well as the 'Hip Strip' of shops, restaurants and night spots. An advantage of staying in Montego Bay is that the airport is nearby, so transfer times are short. It's also close to some fantastic attractions like an amusement park, a beautifully-restored plantation house and the prestigious Half Moon golf course. Other popular activities are snorkelling and diving at coral reefs in the protected waters of Montego Bay Marine Park.

Runaway Bay

Located between Montego Bay and Ocho Rios is the quaint town of Runaway Bay, which is one of the most scenic spots on the island. The vibe here is super-relaxed, even by Caribbean standards, with quiet beaches, clear water and an abundance of lush tropical surroundings. Runaway Bay is home to some of the prettiest beaches in the entire Caribbean, as well as miles of colorful coral reef which can be explored on snorkeling and diving excursions. Runaway Bay has a handful of shops, restaurants and bars which stay relatively quiet all year round. There’s a golf course nearby, and the famous town of Nine Mile, where Bob Marley was born, and later buried. Another advantage of staying here is its close proximity to the buzzing towns of Ocho Rios and Montego Bay.

Ocho Rios

Another top spot on Jamaica's north coast is the lively port town of Ocho Rios. Once a sleepy fishing village, Ocho Rios is a now a major cruise ship capital and buzzes with life both day and night. Ocho Rios is home to some great beaches like palm-fringed Turtle Beach which has white sand and is backed by upmarket resorts. At one end is the cruise ship pier, at the other is a smaller jetty for water sports, and in between is the main stretch of shops, restaurants, beach bars and night clubs. The surrounding parish of Saint Ann is home to rainforests, rivers and waterfalls. The most famous natural attraction is Dunn’s River Falls, a terraced, 180m mountain waterfall with lagoon pools, surrounded by trees.

Discovery Bay

Just few miles east is the pretty coastal town of Discovery Bay, also known as Dry Harbour Bay because it’s backed by the Dry Harbour Mountain range. Near to the town are historic sites like the Green Grotto Caves and Columbus Park. Visitors to the caves can see relics of the native Arawak Indians, while Columbus Park marks the spot where Columbus is said to have landed and features an open-air museum, scenic gardens and the remains of an old sugar plantation. There are wide sandy beaches popular for sunbathing and snorkelling, along with a handful of local facilities including shops, restaurants and beach bars.
