This historic 3-bedroom, 2.5 bath home - built in 1929 has been lovingly remodeled and can easily accommodate 8 guests. Located in the Fort Screven area of the island, the home is less than a 5-minute walk to the ocean, and is in proximity to the Tybee Lighthouse, bicycle and golf cart rentals, as well as several restaurants, including The Sugar Shack.
The main floor of the home features an open-concept floorplan. The modern, well-equipped kitchen comes replete with stainless-steel appliances - including a double oven, an overlay refrigerator, as well as a breakfast bar with seating for 2. Guests can enjoy their meals at the 6-seat dining table adjacent to the kitchen.
The dining area flows into the well-appointed living room, with its cozy sofa, armchairs, and flat-screen TV. There is a half bath off the living area.
Access to the screened-in porch is located off the living room. It boasts an outdoor sectional sofa, and plenty of games and toys for the kids. There is an outdoor shower off the porch, as well as plenty of room for children to play in the backyard. The home is also equipped with a grill.
The yard backs up to a public park with walking paths, picnic area with grill, playground, baseball diamond, as well as basketball and shuffleboard courts.
After a day frolicking on the beach, guests can get some rest in one of three bedrooms. The expansive master bedroom on the main floor comes replete with a king-sized bed, flat-screen TV, as well as comfortable seating. The en-suite bath features a stand-alone shower along with a rain shower head with handheld.
The second bedroom on the main floor boasts a double bed, wall-mounted flat-screen TV, and its own bath with a shower-over-tub.
The third bedroom is in the upstairs loft. Ideal for kids; it features 1 queen bed , 2 twin beds, as well as a flat-screen TV.
Barefoot in the Park was exactly what we hoped for! The parkside location was just right for our grandchildren to hit the playground and for all of us to explore the Ft. Screvin side of Tybee Island. The home is artsy and very liveable at the same time. The kids' favorite pieces were the whale over the kitchen door and the puppy painting upstairs in the loft bedroom. We appreciated the tips from other reviewers about finding games in the cupboards and the drawer microwave. Nana and Papa scored big with screen porch movie nights too! The upstairs bedroom doesn't have it's own bathroom, so our son's family of 4 needed to shower in the large master bathroom. They did have full access to the downstairs powder room. Great-grandmother had her own bed and bath. It all worked out and we hope to return!
