Holidays to Texas in March
March can be a tricky month in which to plan a break. Finding the best weather conditions in what is in many places the shoulder season can test even the most seasoned traveller. So if you’re wondering ‘where can I go on holiday in March?’ try looking in unexpected places. Somewhere like Texas, for example. Now, Texas is not somewhere which comes to mind for many people when they’re planning a trip, but that might be about to change, as more and more people discover the wonders of this awesome destination.
In March, Texas is home to some incredible events. For a true taste of southern America, the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo can’t be beaten. For music and film fans, the South by Southwest Festival needs no introduction. Perhaps more surprisingly, Texans go all-in for the celebration of St Patrick’s Day. These are just a few of the events taking place in March. It’s not all about the parties, either. Texas is a fantastic place to visit for nature lovers, with the Spring Migration bringing 1000s of feathered visitors to the state. Eagle-eyed visitors can spot species including falcons, hawks, herons and eagles.
Arizona in March
Texas isn’t the only state boasting a packed calendar in March. Arizona is also a hive of activity this month. Phoenix is the place to be for celebrations such as Agave on the Rocks and the Italian Festival. March is also a fantastic time to enjoy carpets of wildflowers, which add a painterly splash of color to the arid landscape. Sports fans will enjoy the Spring training season when the biggest and brightest baseball teams come out to play.

October holidays

Autumn Colours in Yellowstone in October
Yellowstone National Park is an awe-inspiring destination at any time of year, but there is something so very special about it in the Autumn. Fall colours paint the trees in glorious shades of red, orange, and yellow, and the wind carries a subtle nip of cooler air, signaling the changing of the season. Yellowstone holidays are at their best when you have the peace to really enjoy the phenomenal surroundings, and October is a great time to visit Yellowstone to avoid the clamoring crowds, and although a few roads are starting to close, the majority of routes through the park remain open. Explore our guide to Yellowstone in the Autumn (and other seasons) here.
One of the biggest draws of the park is the Yellowstone National Park volcano. Or, the Yellowstone Supervolcano, to give it its proper title. The park sits on an area of seismic activity, and the resulting landscape is phenomenal. The Caldera is the magnificent centerpiece of this geological wonderland. It was formed by an immense eruption around 640000 years ago, and the resulting crater is one of the most spectacular sights in North America.
If that isn’t enough geothermal action, you can pay a visit to Old Faithful. The famous Yellowstone geyser is named because it is one of the most reliable attractions in the park. It erupts every two hours, shooting jets of water from beneath the Earth up to 184 feet into the sky. Watching Old Faithful erupt is exhilarating, and a unique example of the Earth in action.
The park is so large, it lies across three states. The majority is in Wyoming, with Idaho and Montana also laying claim to a piece of the geothermal wonderland. We have a great choice of villas in Big Sky, Montana. At just under an hours’ drive from the park, Big Sky is the perfect base for your Yellowstone National Park holiday.
Explore Croatia in October
The russet roofs of Dalmatia were almost made for golden Autumn light. October is a great time to visit the southern part of Croatia, especially Dubrovnik. Crowds of visitors and day-trippers crowd the city during the summer, but in October, you’ll have the atmospheric city streets almost to yourself. It’s also the last month of the season for sailing around Croatia’s jaw-dropping coast. Local produce is at its best during the Autumn as well, so you’ll have a great excuse to indulge in some fantastic food and drink.
Amalfi Coast in October
Glamorous, sophisticated, and achingly beautiful, Italy’s Amalfi Coast is a holiday hotspot popular with British travellers all year round. October is right at the end of the summer season, but before the weather turns for the winter, you can still enjoy shorts-and-t-shirts temperatures and pleasant beach days. Conditions are cool enough to really make the most of the chance to explore this wonderful region. If you’ve got a special occasion planned, such as an Amalfi Coast wedding, October is a wonderful time to consider setting that date. You’ll have far more choice and availability than during the peak season.
Home to picture-perfect towns such as Positano and Sorrento, the Amalfi Coast has some of the most popular destinations in Italy. They are gorgeous at any time of year, but during October, once the summer crowds have dissipated, you can take your time to admire their beauty. Day trips to Herculaneum and Pompeii will be quieter and more poignant without the crowds, and hiking in the Lattari Mountains, which feels impossible in the heavy heat of summer, is perfectly possible in October. The nearest airport to the Amalfi Coast is Naples. There are plenty of ways to get from the city to your accommodation (including our rather fabulous airport transfers, which can be booked through our Guest Experience team.)
If you’re wondering where to stay in the Amalfi Coast, we have beautiful homes available across the region, including in Positano and Amalfi town. Our Amalfi Coast villa rentals are luxurious and spacious, with many boasting traditional Italian features and stunning views of the Tyrrhenian Sea.

December holidays

Luxury holidays to Jamaica in December
Christmas in paradise sounds like a pretty tempting prospect right now, and Jamaica is certainly paradise. Spend your December relaxing on golden sandy beaches, soaking up the sun, and enjoying the laid-back island life. Stick around for 31st December and join the party at Harbour Fest, the most fun New Year’s Eve party you’ll ever see. If you’re looking for more ideas for your Jamaica break, check out our guide to the best things to do in Jamaica.
December is a fantastic month for family holidays in Jamaica. As well as introducing the kids to a different kind of Christmas, it’s a great time to visit island attractions such as Ochos Rios. Jamaica holidays during the winter months will have the coolest temperatures of any time of year, making outdoor activities and exploring much more comfortable than in the summer.
Denver Colorado in December
Denver’s motto when it comes to celebrating the festive season; go big or go home. And there’s no chance that you’ll want to do the latter when you arrive in the winter wonderland capital of Colorado. Twinkling lights adorn every park and sidewalk and ice skating rinks spring up across the city as the city prepares for a visit from a certain jolly gentleman. Usher in your Christmas spirit on brunch with Father Christmas, or pay a visit to one of the city’s glorious light shows. The fun doesn’t stop on Boxing Day. If you’re in town for New Year’s Eve, prepare yourself for a fantastic firework display, and join in as Denver welcomes the new year.
