American Independence Day, also known as 4th of July, is a time when millions of US citizens fly the American flag to commemorate the signing of the United States Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.

4th of July events at Disney World
From dazzling fireworks to lively dance parties, you can ring in 4th of July 2019 with a series of amazing events at Disney World.
At Magic Kingdom the skies above Cinderella Castle will light up with the spectacular Fourth of July Concert in the Sky. Taking place on July 3rd and 4th 2019, it will feature spectacular fireworks and amazing special effects set to a musical score of traditional American songs.
You can boogie on down at two American-themed dance parties, one in Frontierland and one in Tomorrowland from 7pm to midnight on both nights. Both locations offer an excellent vantage point to watch the fireworks which start at 9pm.
You can also catch The Muppets’ Great Moments in History show where you’ll see Miss Piggy, Kermit and the rest of the gang re-enact famous moments in American history.
Over at Epcot there’ll be even more themed fun for Independence Day 2019. You can enjoy special evening concerts of great American songs by the Voices of Liberty group. These are held at 5.30pm, 6.45pm and 8pm at the America Gardens Theater. During the day you’ll also see Mickey, Donald and Goofy walking around in their patriotic costumes outside The American Adventure.
Epcot is hosting an enhanced take on the regular Illuminations fireworks show which takes place over the World Showcase Lagoon. It’ll feature all the same amazing fireworks and effects with the addition of a breathtaking all-American grand finale.
Spend this July 4th celebrating one of the greatest icons of American popular culture at ‘Star Wars A Galactic Spectacular’. This immersive nighttime experience kicks off at 10pm with fireworks, projection effects, music and scenes from the famous movie franchise.
Around the park you can also indulge in patriotic treats like 4th of July cupcakes, dipped strawberries and red-white-and-blue coconut macaroons.

4th July at Seaworld
If you’re spending 4th of July 2019 at Seaworld you’ll enjoy one of Orlando’s most magnificent fireworks displays. Over the Independence Day weekend the nights will light up with fireworks, lasers and pyrotechnics in a patriotic finale to the usual ‘Ignite’ fireworks show. The show is included in park admission and can be best enjoyed from the Bayside Stadium.
This show is in addition to the park’s other nighttime shows including Touch the Sky, Sea Lions Tonight and Shamu Light Up the Night. If you want to be closer to the sights, sounds and splashes you can book reserved seating.
Independence Day at Legoland
Visitors can celebrate America’s Independence over more nights than ever this July 4th, 5th and 6th. Legoland Florida will hold its annual Red, White & Boom event which includes patriotic Lego-themed activities such as Lego builds and a huge fireworks show.
During the fireworks guests get to wear special viewing glasses that make it appear as if thousands of giant Lego bricks are exploding in the sky above the beautiful Lake Eloise.
The park also hosts the fun packed Brixx DJ dance party where younger guests can show off their best dance moves. There’ll be the chance to help build a giant American flag made out of Lego bricks, and to salute the troops during the Battle for Brickbeard’s Bounty ski show.

Free 4th July celebrations in Orlando
If you’re not up for the hustle and bustle of the theme parks, there are loads of other events going on around Orlando. And what’s more, many of them are totally free. Here are some of the best free events to check out over Independence Day 2019 in Orlando.
Fireworks at the Fountain
One of Orlando’s biggest and best 4th of July fireworks displays takes place downtown at Lake Eola Fountain in Eola Park. The fireworks get started at around 9pm, but the party gets going well before with live music, a beer garden, a kids’ play area and food and drinks stalls.
Red, Hot & Boom
There are big-name performances plus plenty of food, drink and fireworks at this event in Cranes Roost Park in Altamonte Springs. About 20 minutes north of downtown Orlando, this free event features live bands playing at the park’s amphitheatre. It runs from 4-11pm on July 3rd with the fireworks scheduled for 9.30pm.
Red, White & Brew
Head to Wall Street Plaza in downtown Orlando over July 4th and 5th for two nights of all-American block parties. All of the Plaza’s bars will be participating including Cantina, The Hen House, Hooch, The monkey Bar, Shine, Sidehow and Waitiki. Expect drinks, food, games, competitions and live music. Entrance is free.
Star Spangled Spectacular
The town of Celebration lives up to its name every Independence Day with an amazing celebration that kicks off in the morning with a parade and closes at night with a festive fireworks show over the lake.
Monumental 4th of July
The Monumental 4th of July event in Kissimmee is one of the town’s biggest annual events. There’s something for the whole family to enjoy including live music, a kids zone, a craft market and food vendors. The event starts at 5pm and culminates in a huge fireworks finale at 9pm. Admission is free.
For lower key Fourth of July fun St Cloud is a great place to head. The 4th of July lakefront celebration promotes its small-town character and is a great way to spend your holiday evening. The festivities start at 3pm with games, food and live music. If you like seafood, head to Crabby Bill’s where you dine on the lakefront and get great views of the fireworks which start at 9pm.
Smoke on the Water
There are even more free fireworks displays over on Florida’s Space Coast, just a one-hour drive from Orlando. At Port Canaveral, the Smoke on the Water fireworks show takes place on Tuesday July 2nd starting at 8pm at the harbor. You can get great views from the waterfront dining spots and from Exploration Tower. Fireworks are expected to start at 9.30pm.
The Smoke on the Water show continues through July 3rd over the ocean at Cocoa Beach. Grab your beach chairs and take to the sand to watch the fireworks which start at 8.30pm.
Kick off your Fourth of July 2019 celebrations with a fun-packed 5K race. Runners dress in their most patriotic attire and run along the 5K route to the finish line. After the race, the celebrations continue with the Honor America Parade. At 8pm fireworks will light up the sky over Indian River Lagoon near Front Street Park.
Another Red, White & Boom event will take place at Sand Point Park in Titusville. Visitors can listen to live music, enjoy tasty barbecue food and take part in fun activities for the whole family. Fireworks are scheduled for 9pm at the Marina Park area.
There are so many beautiful parks in Orlando with picnic tables and grills for barbecues. Some of the nicest ones include Cypress Grove Park and Wadeview Park in the central area of Orlando; Downey Park and Moss Park in east Orlando; Bill Frederick Park in west Orlando and Wekiwa Springs in Apopka. Simply pack what you need and head down to one of the parks for an afternoon of eating, drinking and celebrating.
Other fun 4th of July activities in Orlando
The Watermelon 5K
Winter Park will host its annual Watermelon 5K race on Park Avenue during the morning of July 4th 2019. The run begins at around 7am and is followed by a watermelon-eating contest at around 8am. Afterwards, head to Central Park for the annual Independence Day party with children’s activities, a live brass band, horse-drawn carriage rides and free admission to the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum.
The Kennedy Space Center
If you don’t mind the drive, head to the Kennedy Space Center on July 4th for some American-themed fun. You can meet real-life astronaut Jack Lousma, and even have lunch with him. You can also see famous spacecraft, get up-close to launch areas and train in spaceflight simulators. Admission includes the Space Shuttle Atlantis Exhibit, the Shuttle Launch Experience, 3D space films in the Imax Theater and a bus tour.
Crisis at 1600
You and your friends will feel like true American heroes when you play the Crisis at 1600 game at America’s Escape Game. The highly themed game sees you entering the Oval Office, securing the White House and stopping a missile attack before it’s too late!
The Coke Zero Sugar 400
An Independence Day event like no other, the Coke Zero Sugar 400 takes place every year at the Daytona International Speedway. Featuring some of the most exciting stock car racing of the season, it starts on July 3rd and runs through July 6th. Aside from the racing, you can visit fan zones, take garage tours, shop for merchandise and watch series practices. The Coke Zero Sugar 400 will start at 7.30pm on Saturday 6th July, followed by fireworks at 10pm.
Icon Park Lights Up I-Drive
Icon Park will be debuting it new 2-day 4th of July celebration, Lights Up I-Drive. Guests can enjoy live bands, a comedian, stilt walkers dressed as Uncle Sam, balloon animals and more. Fourth of July food will be on sale including hamburgers and hot dogs, red, white and blue popcorn, beer, wine and other drinks. There’ll also be a fun pie-eating contest and wing-eating challenge. All this will be set against the backdrop of The Wheel which will be lit up with bright lights and pyrotechnics.
