With a near-perfect location in South Gouverneur, Lurin 12 is distinguished by its staggering views of the Caribbean Sea, neighboring islands and Technicolor sunsets, as well as its easy proximity to Gouveneur Beach and the shops and restaurants of Gustavia. But leaving this luxury rental property is hardly the point, as the design is modern, the layout is private, and the views are spectacular, with each room directly facing the ocean. The lavish hillside vacation home also benefits from cooling breezes, which waft across the terrace, over the pool and into the open living, dining and sleeping areas.

Lurin 12 is the rare St. Barth house that is equally well suited to honeymoons, romantic celebrations, and couples getaways as it is to family vacations. While the proportions live up to the name, the design is understated, with a white-on-white color palette, cool slate gray floors, vaulted ceilings and pleasingly weathered wood on the terrace. To make it even friendlier for romance seekers and families alike, the Top Villas concierge is at the ready to organize everything from private wine tastings and couples massages to kids snorkel trips.

A gracious kitchen spills open onto a dining area, which in turn blends seamlessly into a living room, a covered terrace with a dining table under a retractable awning, and an expansive deck with an infinity pool and those remarkable sea views, especially as the sky turns crimson and persimmon. Inside, the design has just enough whimsical touches, such as stylized print of guitars in many colors. This is a place in which you shouldn’t take yourself too seriously. You’re on vacation, after all.

The pool deck is flanked by three bedrooms that are all of similar size. They are all under one roof, and each with a queen-size bed, a captivating Caribbean view and an ensuite bathroom. In each, one wall of windows can be fully pulled back to let in fresh air an ocean breezes, and to amplify the endlessly calming sound of the waves. Not that guests who say in this simple, relaxing oasis will need much additional calming.
