Secluded, yet not isolated, L'Orbelle is only a short drive from the market towns of Limoux and Mirepoix and would make the ideal base to explore this border area of Southern France.

The contemporary interior decor features stylish, modern furnishing throughout, an open plan living area opening onto the terrace and garden, with the added bonus of air conditioning on the first floor and the living area. The more classic style of the exterior is perfectly in keeping with the rural surroundings, with a large salt-water pool ideally situated to enjoy the 360-degree panorama in total privacy and comfort. Why not rent a bike and explore the area: the countryside all around l'Orbelle is rugged and perfect for walking and cycling. Children will be thrilled to meet kangaroos, wallabies and emus and have a go at throwing boomerangs at the Australian Wild Park, just over a mile from l'Orbelle.

This property boasts an incredible, peaceful setting yet within easy reach of the market towns of Mirepoix and Limoux, both renowned for their weekly markets, shops and pavement cafes around the main square. The medieval cloistered buildings with gargoyles carved into the beams, create the unique charm of Limoux, not to mention its famous Blanchette wine: all reasons for a visit! The most striking landmark of the region is the medieval citadel of Carcassonne, with its ramparts and fairy-tale turrets overlooking the town below; a stroll along its narrow lanes and through ancient stone archways will take you back in time, to the age of the Knights Templar. Being so close to Spain's border, you might be tempted by a day trip to the independent state of Andorra for some tax-free shopping, or to visit a typical Spanish village. The Mediterranean Sea is only one hour from your villa and the coastline of Narbonne is one of the best windsurfing spots in the world. All in all, you will need more than a week to enjoy all that the Languedoc has to offer!
