The Greek island of Mykonos’ diverse and beautiful bays are one of its biggest tourist attractions, with a beach for almost every taste and mood.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

In ancient times Mykonos was among the poorest and barest of the Greek islands. Named after its first mythological ruler Mykons, the island is said to have been the location of a great battle between Zeus and the Titans. Today this central Cyclade is one of the glitziest and most popular holiday hotspots in the country with visitors flocking from across the globe to soak up some sun on its exquisite beaches.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

This is the island\u2019s party capital offering plenty of fun in the sun and a range of excellent amenities. By day beach-goers can drink and dance on the beach as well as a variety of water sports including a recommended dive centre, Mykonos Diving Center. As the sun goes down the beach and adjacent headland are transformed into an all-night club with a number of popular bars on the beach playing music and serving drinks until the early hours.\u00a0Paradise Beach is well worth a visit during your Mykonos vacation, especially\u00a0for\u00a0younger crowds. It is located in the south of Mykonos.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Elia Beach is a great stretch of sand located just a short distance from the center of Mykonos. Known as the longest beach on the island this gorgeous golden bay is lined with luxury sun loungers, upmarket taverns, sophisticated bars and water sports retailers. Unlike Paradise and its sister beach Super Paradise, Elia is one of the island\u2019s quieter sun spots and is popular with nudists, peace-seekers and a more reserved clientele. Elia can be reached by bus, taxi or boat and is the last stop on the caique boat route that links all of the island\u2019s beaches.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

This is a secluded beach perfect for those in search of true tranquillity. Situated in the bay of Myrsini in the island\u2019s northern end, Fokos is off the beaten track but well worth the extra effort to get there. Fokos Beach is one of the most beautiful on the island with wide welcoming sands, calm crystal seas and stunning views over the rocky coastline. There are no beach clubs, no umbrellas and comparably few signs of tourist life here. Follow signs to Fokos from Ano Mera and head thorough peaceful farmlands down onto the untamed beauty of the beach.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Psarou Beach is also known as “The Jet Setters’ Beach”. If you want to see and be seen then this is the beach for you but be warned, beach chairs here are booked months in advance and space in the summer months is scarce.<\/p>\r\n\r\n\r\n\r\n

Paranga is popular with families, couples, tourists and locals alike with its beautiful vistas, excellent restaurants and calm waters perfect for swimming, snorkelling, kayaking and more. Kalo Livadi is another great choice for families, with its shallow waters, numerous beach chairs and idyllic setting. Tai massage is offered under your umbrella here and great food is served at the popular Sol Y Mar restaurant. Kalo Livadi can be found between Kalafatis and Elia beach, around 10km from Mykonos town and 2kms from Ano Mera.<\/p>\r\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
