The currency of Barbados is the Barbadian dollar (BBD).
When visiting Barbados bear in mind that the Barbadian dollar is always converted at the rate of $2 BBD to $1 US dollar (USD). The Barbadian dollar is fixed to the US dollar and that doesn’t fluctuate, however its rate to other currencies like Canadian dollars, British pounds and the euro fluctuates on a daily basis.
While US dollars are accepted across the island, in some stores and restaurants you will get a slightly worse rate of between $1.95 and $1.98 BDS to every American dollar.
Barbados banknotes are issued in the following denominations: 2, 5, 10, 20, 50 and 100 dollars – and coins are issued as 5 cents, 10 cents, 25 cents and 1 dollar.
