As fans are eager to celebrate Disney’s 50th anniversary, theme park tickets are now in demand more than ever. If you’re hoping to visit Disney World in 2022, now is the time to start planning!
With so many exciting developments already in place, the next few years are set to be a huge year for Disney. As park tickets and accommodation are available to book now, you can start arranging your trip straight away.
Organizing a trip to Disney can get stressful, so planning in advance is key! In this blog post, we take a look at the most important things to consider when booking a Disney World vacation next year.
Visiting Disney World in 2022
Although the theme parks in Orlando officially reopened last July, there are still strict safety regulations in place. As fans were concerned this would dampen the magic, many people decided to hold off visiting until 2022. As the theme park prepares for one of its busiest years yet, there’s never been a more exciting time to visit Disney!
Booking your Disney trip
If you’re wondering when to book Disney tickets — the sooner the better! Reservations for Disney World 2022 are available now. As the parks are still operating at reduced capacity, it’s a good idea to book your tickets early to avoid disappointment. Although park tickets aren’t refundable, you can always amend your dates if your travel plans change (terms and conditions apply).
In addition to your admission ticket, don’t forget that you now also have to book a park pass reservation. This new system is in place to enable Disney to manage the crowds between all 4 theme parks. As park reservations and tickets are limited, you will need to check the availability of both before you book. Disney has extended their park pass calendar until January 2023, which implies that this new booking system will be in place for at least the next two years.
If you’re wary about booking so far in advance, it’s a good idea to arrange your tickets through a company like Top Villas. When you book with us, our Guest Experience team will organize everything for you, including transport!
Know before you go
At this time, it is unclear what safety measures will still be in place at Disney. As safety guidelines continue to evolve, more adjustments will continue to be made in the park. Some restrictions have already been relaxed; face coverings are now optional in outdoor spaces, and temperature checks are no longer required upon entry.
Face masks and social distancing measures will still be in place throughout this year, but it is thought that many rules will be phased out over the coming few years. Whether they will be eradicated completely, we don’t know yet. It is unlikely that there will be any drastic changes overnight, so keep the current guidelines in mind when you book!
If you’re hoping to stay in a Disney Resort, you can book a stay up to 500 days in advance. If you’d rather hire a private rental, you can secure a booking with Top Villas up to three years before you travel.
Booking accommodation so far in advance can be quite daunting. If your plans change, you can often face a hefty cancellation fee from your travel provider. When you book with Top Villas, our new Flex policy is designed to give you more confidence when booking ahead. Choose one of our selected Flex properties and you can now reschedule or cancel your stay, even if you’re due to check in soon.
Book now, pay later
When you book with Top Villas, all you need to do is pay your deposit upfront. You can then pay off your balance in comfortable installments up until 60 days before your stay.
Alternatively, our new Affirm credit payment option means you can also now spread the cost of your vacation home over a 3, 6, or 12 month period. Simply look out for properties with the Affirm banner (US customers only).
What to expect at Disney World in 2022
Even if things aren’t completely back to normal at Disney World in 2022, you will still have an amazing time! Over the next year, there are a number of new rides, restaurants and attractions set to open. Even with the current restrictions in place, Disney is still the most Magical Place on Earth!
The World’s Most Magical Celebration
As this October marks Disney World’s 50th birthday, there are some exciting developments in store for all 4 theme parks. These epic birthday celebrations will last for 18 months, so next year is set to be a big year for Disney. Although most of the plans are still top secret, you can expect plenty of one-off events, fun decor and special merchandise!
The park’s closure caused inevitable delays to a number of Disney’s ongoing projects, with many plans for 2021 postponed. Work on the park has now resumed, so we can safely assume that there will be a variety of new rides opening at Disney World in 2022. Attractions set to be open next year include the Guardians of the Galaxy and Tron rollercoasters, the Moana Journey of Water due to open in Epcot for its 40th anniversary, and the much-anticipated Star Wars Galactic Starcruiser hotel.
Character meet and greets
Another attraction affected by the new restrictions has been character meet and greets. Although Disney has come up with some inventive ways for guests to see their favorite stars from a distance, the experience is not quite as magical.
To combat this, Disneyland Paris and Shanghai Disneyland Resort are currently trialing scheduled meet and greets. These socially distanced meetings offer a more personalized experience — and the opportunity to snap a selfie! If these trials are successful, they may well be introduced at the Orlando parks over the coming years!
Social distancing guidelines have been lifted at Disney World, with fireworks shows back on in Magic Kingdom, Epcot, and a night-time show in Hollywood Studios. Parades haven’t returned, but you will be able to spot cavalcades in Magic Kingdom and flotillas in Animal Kingdom. Furthermore, the night-time show Harmonious is open at Epcot, and the fireworks and projection show Enchantment is open at Magic Kingdom
The majority of dining options at Disney reopened in 2021. If park capacity continues to increase, we can expect every restaurant to be back open by next year. Currently, you can make dining reservations up to 60 days before you travel, although this may be reduced as things return to normal.
In line with safety guidelines, Disney has also introduced new technology in all of its restaurants. Handy features such as contactless menus, mobile ordering and mobile check-ins are all likely to continue, even when restrictions lift.
