Guide to Pampelonne Beach, St Tropez
When visiting St Tropez, make sure you visit Pampelonne beach, or Plage du Pampelonne as the locals refer to it. This fantastic stretch of beach is the Mediterranean coast line at its best. Whether you are after a fun day out building sand castles in the sun with the family, or you are looking for a more private location to get an all over tan, Pampelonne beach has it all on display.
Plage du Pampelonne is a long stretch of shore line, around 7 km which resides in between Plage Tahiti to the North and Cap Camarat to the South. It is easily accessible from the main town by car or bus. There are a number of car parks dotted around and the cheapest around are 4 Euros for the day, but get there early because they fill up quickly!
Once on the beach there is plenty to keep you occupied. If you want to sit and relax and soak up the St Tropez sun then the fine, golden sands make the perfect place to lounge. You can also hire sun loungers for those that prefer a more refined comfort! If you are working hard on that all over tan there are plenty of private areas on this stretch of beach, where clothing is of course optional. Most of these are located more towards the south part of the beach.
The waters here are warm and crystal clear and the best way to cool off after a hard days sun bathing. The cool breeze from the Mediterranean ocean provides just enough relief from the warm sun. The best advice is to get to the beach early, This will ensure you find the best spot available.

Club 55
If you fancy rubbing shoulders with the rich and the famous then why not make a reservation at Club 55, a private beach which offers mattresses and parasols from around 40 Euros a day. A fantastic lunch accompanied by a glass of wine (or two) is also on order and prices start at around 80 Euros per person. But it is well worth the indulgence, you are on holiday after all!
You can also charter a yacht from Club 55 so you can really jet set off into the sun!
Nikki Beach
If you fancy hitting the same hotspot as Elton John, Leonardo Di Caprio and Paris Hilton to name but a few, then look no further then Nikki Beach. This beach club offers a superb range of salads, grilled tuna, pasta and the all important Champagne and Caviar! Why not treat yourself to a beach bed and a spot of lunch in the St Tropez sunshine. There really is no other way to relax. Prices start at around 15 Euros.
Tahiti Beach Club
Probably the biggest of all the beach clubs on Pampelonne Beach, it is the stop off point for many of the mega yachts. It is also one of the oldest beach clubs around, with the likes of Brigitte Bardot putting this place on the map in the fifties. At the northern end of Pampelonne beach this world renowned beach club is highly distinguished with its bright orange parasols! Its full service restaurant provides sumptuous sea food and fresh salads if you get a bit peckish.
Les Jumeaux
An ideal location for the kids, a family friendly beach club with a kids lunch menu starting from around 11 Euros. There are plenty of things to keep the kids entertained and hunger free! It is also open all year round, which can be a rarity for the beach clubs in St Tropez.
Cabane Bambou
If you are after some serious R&R then this is the beach club for you! Thai cuisine is hot on the menu so you can enjoy some fantastic food whilst you work on that tan. Massages can also be booked if you really need to de stress and unwind, alternatively their mojitos are so refreshing that they will undoubtedly have the same effect!
