When you aren’t skiing obviously it’s the joys of Apres Ski isn’t it? But if you have the whole family with you, you just might need some other off-piste activities to entertain you all.
Of course you can always head back to your Snowmass chalet for some chill-out time and a soak in the hot tub, but you know that won’t satisfy the kids for ever.
Snowmass has plenty to entertain the whole family on and off-piste. You’ll find daily activities such as campfire sing-a-longs, which happen every Monday at the Ranger Station in the Village Mall. Sit around the warming fire, enjoy some more-ish s’mores and listen to the guitar played by the resident cowboy.
From December through to April.
Winter Wild Things
This free nature program is something for the whole family where you can learn all about the local mountain animals and their snowy home. Just meet at either the junction of Lunchline Trail and Coney Glade lift (11.45a.m.) or the tepee on Fanny Hill (2.30p.m.) every Wednesday and Friday from January to the end of the season.
The Snowmass Ice Age Discovery Center
Children and parents are welcome at the Ice Age Discovery Centre to see all the exhibits of fossils and mammals found in the Ice Age Discovery nearby.
On Wednesdays from December the story tellers will keep you and the kids enthralled with tales of the discoveries.
The Center is open daily and both entry and story-telling is free.
Treehouse Kids’ Adventure Center
As well as ski and snowboard programs for all aged kids, this huge center has child care facilities for those too young for the slopes. It also has a variety of activities based at the center for all age groups. Their afternoon craft hour is like an after ski club for the youngsters before you head home.
Craft hour December – April, Tuesdays and Thursday 3.30 – 4.30p.m.
Aspen Recreation Center
There is much to enjoy here: laze in the outdoor pool or hot tub, skate indoors or out and take a class – there are some for the tiny tots too
And there’s still your luxury chalet in Snowmass or Aspen to come home to. What more could you want? Some of the best skiing for all levels of ability plus opportunities for tuition and still plenty to do off-piste.
