If your vacation has to include shopping, then Florida offers a host of desirable shopping destinations for you to lose yourself in.

A Florida vacation villa based in the north or south of the sunshine state ensures the close proximity of shopping malls galore.  But what if you’re looking for other ways to part with your hard-earned dollars?  Here are a few specialist shops that might be of interest.

Key Lime Pie

The World of Disney
At Downtown Disney you’ll find the largest Disney Character store in the world!  You are sure to find something in one of their 12 rooms.  Will you choose a feature costume, character merchandise or something else from the collectibles?  This store is also a pin trading location, so be ready to indulge your family as they interact and swap with other enthusiasts.

Flea market treasures
Orlando boasts at least 6 flea markets.  In fact you’ll probably find a flea market or two in most of the other resorts in Florida too.  These markets are as individual as the ‘finds’ they offer.

Woof Gang Bakery
Head over to Celebration if you’re still in the Orlando area.  You won’t be surprised to find this doggy and cat store in the town that Disney created.  Here you can update your dog’s wardrobe and diet or just buy him some treats.

Treasures of the sea
With 1,350 miles of coastline, shelling is a favourite pastime.  The numerous shell shops have done all the hard work of collecting allowing you to fast track your collection!  You can pick up rare sea shells, sponges, coral and fossils in The Shell Factory at Fort Myers.  In fact you can lose yourself here for hours viewing the wildlife exhibits, aquariums and alligators.

There are many shell shops to browse such as She Sells Seashells on Sanibel Island, The Shell Man on Marathon and The Shell Warehouse on Key West.

A taste of Cuba
Key West also offers the best Cuban cigars at the simply-named shop, Cigars.  The grandparents of the owners came from Cuba and they now sell a range of Cuba’s best.  After all here at Key West you’re geographically closer to Havana than Miami!

If you’re staying in central Florida, you can still indulge at Cigarz on the Avenue at Winter Park near Orlando.

Key Lime Pie Factory
The original Key Lime Pie Factory is in Key West, although other companies and outlets are springing up all around Florida.  Florida’s national dish is a must-try whilst you are on vacation here.  At the factory there’s more than the original pie on offer.  The endless treats include key lime juice, key lime pie covered in chocolate on a stick and rum cakes.  There are also key lime white chocolate cookies, key lime coconut cookies and candy.
