DisneyWorld has rolled out its long-awaited MyMagic+ which includes a new My Disney Experience app and website. It’s all about making it easier for you to enjoy your experience and help Disney plan logistics so that the crowds keep moving!
This new technology should help you plan in advance and keep you up to the minute when you’re visiting the theme park in Orlando. Fortunately DisneyWorld’s 4 parks are really close to our luxury Orlando villas in their secure and gated resorts.
What is MyMagic+?
Disney only announced it this week, but MyMagic+ is designed to make life easier for DisneyWorld visitors and to make everyone’s time at Disney more personal. If you’re someone who likes to plan everything in advance, you’ll love MyMagic+. Of course you can use it to plan part of your visit only or to continue planning once you’re there. All 4 Disney Parks have free Wi-Fi so you will be able to connect your smart phone or tablets once you are there for more updates.
What you can expect:
Website and mobile app
1. The My Disney Experience section of the website and mobile app will both help with one-stop planning for your Disney visit.
2. Fastpass+ means no more dashing around the parks to get your Fastpass times. You will be able to book three attractions online before you arrive at DisneyWorld and adjust whilst you’re there. There will also be opportunities to reserve seating for nightly fireworks or shows as well as character meet and greets.
RF cards and wristbands
3. Radio Frequency cards and wristbands will replace paper tickets and you will be able to use them to enter the parks, as your Fastpass+ recognition and to buy food and merchandise. Eventually the cards will be replaced by wristbands which you will be able to use in the same way.
Disney has already introduced a number of ‘interactive queues’ including the Haunted Mansion, Under the Sea – Journey of the Little Mermaid, Test Track and Dumbo the Flying Elephant. These rides immerse you in the experience before you get to the ride so that you don’t feel as though you’re queuing at all. At Dumbo the Flying Elephant, kids play in the Big Top and parents relax because the kids are happy and all in the name of waiting to get on the ride. No one feels impatient or frustrated – good news for all ages.
Personalised and interactive experiences
The new technology is all about enjoying a personal experience and Disney has been developing their attractions to do just that. For instance at Turtle Talk with Crush and the Enchanted Tales of Belle in new Fantasyland you get a completely personal experience with these characters which is different for every guest.
Of course there will be more ways to use the MyMagic+ as things progress. Disney won’t wait to roll them all out together but will release them as they are available over the next few months.
