With Despicable Me 2 opening in movie theatres tomorrow, you’ll love your chance to ‘jump into the action’ of the movie at Universal Studios. The Despicable Me Minion Mayhem Ride will transport you straight to the world of Gru and his adopted daughters, Margo, Agnes and Edith.
Your part in the adventure will be as a Minion. For any excited youngsters we’re afraid you don’t turn yellow but you will enjoy the fun and smell the bananas!
Of course you’ll have travelled to the theme park from your luxurious home-from-home vacation rental nearby. Orlando has any number of plush resorts that seem a million miles away from the fun but are actually only minutes away.
Becoming a Minion
Of course you have to be put through your paces to join fellow Minions Dave, Stuart and the others. It all starts when you enter Gru’s house on Main Street. Join the queue to get to your training. Don’t worry as there’s plenty to look at on your way.
First you’ll notice all the Minion recruitment posters calling to you. Why not get your photo taken by one of them? This part looks like the inside of Gru’s house and you’ll also see some crayoned pictures – self-portraits of the girls, Agnes, Margo and Edith with a rainbow and one of Daddy Gru. Don’t worry your youngsters will get a good look at them as they are displayed at ‘child-height’.
Next you pick up your 3D goggles and get to watch the fun recruitment video. The Minions will have you in stitches of laughter and then as you wait for the ride, you’ll catch the sent of bananas too!
As the doors open the new recruits – that’s you –file in and take your seats in the vehicles which hold four people. Now’s the time to put on your 3D goggles and put the safety bar down on your car. Get ready to be transformed from human to Minion as you are put through your training by Gru, his daughters and his henchmen (Minions). You’ll have to resist the bananas and rescue the gift that Agnes has made for Gru too.
It’s not over yet
As the ride ends, you exit and you’re already back to being human but there is still the Despicable Me dance party to enjoy. There’s also the opportunity to buy your very own fluffy unicorn just like the one Agnes made.
You might even get a chance to catch the movie Despicable Me 2 at a local movie theatre.
You’ll certainly be able to enjoy some relaxation back at your Orlando luxury villa. Don’t forget to pick up an Orlando Flex Ticket when you book your villa. This gets you entrance to Islands of Adventure, SeaWorld, Wet ‘n’ Wild and Aquatica as well as Universal Studios.
