A Star Wars Droid Factory build station has opened in Downtown Disney at Once upon a Toy. Kids can build their own Astromech. The best known of these robots is R2D2 but visitors can build their own version from a choice of many parts.

April highlights
The Great American Pie Festival is just down the road from DisneyWorld in Disney’s own town, Celebration. Yes on 27th & 28th April the 12th annual festival to celebrate this American ‘institution’ will take place at Lakeside. The Festival itself is free and once there you can create your own pie at the Pie Creation Station, see how it’s done at the Demonstration Stage and watch or take part in the pie eating contests.

For just $10 for adults or $5 for seniors and children under 5 you can head to the Pie Buffet where you can eat as much pie as you want.

Saturday 27th April open from 11 a.m. – 7 p.m.

Sunday 28th April open from noon – 5 p.m.

Animal Kingdom will celebrate their 15th Anniversary on Earth Day 22nd April. See the opening ceremony at 8.40 a.m. at the Tree of Life and take part in the ‘Party for the Planet’ throughout the day in Asia, Africa and Rafiki’s Planet Watch.  This event will feature interactive activities with an emphasis on animals and nature.

Coming in October
Head over to Epcot for the Food and Wine Classic at the Swan and Dolphin Resort Hotel. It’s all part of Epcot’s Annual International Food and Wine Festival which starts on 27th September. The Swan and Dolphin classic takes place on 17th & 18th October and features the hotel’s own celebrity chef Todd English. Tasting tickets over this weekend are just $2 each, seminars $42.40 and a stroll on the causeway $80.04 per day.
